Review: Glamour Doll Eyes 2014 Spring Fling Collection!

Hey Everyone!

Today I have a post showing you the new Spring Fling Collection from Glamour Doll Eyes! This collection is composed of 8 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 2 HydraGlazes, and 2 cream eyeshadows. I decided to pick up the 2 eyeshadow palettes that were offered for a limited time as well as one of the blushes.

The Spring Fling collection launched March 20th and will be available through June 20th. The palettes are unfortunately sold out as they were a first come first serve item, but the shadows are all still available on the website in the individual pots.

Photo Information:
  • All photos taken in artificial light.
  • All swatch photos taken with flash.
  • All swatches done over Lorac Behind The Scenes Eye Primer.
The Eyeshadow Palettes:

Surrogate's Pipe Dream: Marquee, Old Money, Pipe Dream & Surrogate

Delilah's Disguise: Disguise, Delilah, Evacuate, & In Memory

Delilah, Disguise, Evacuate, & In Memory
Marquee: Marquee is a pale orange/peach shadow with a green sheen and subtle blue shimmer throughout.

Old Money: Old Money is a yellow shadow with a purple shimmer throughout.

Surrogate: Surrogate is a light purple shadow with a golden/green shift.

Pipe Dream: Pipe Dream is a gorgeous duochrome; This shadow has a black base and the shift is a green to purple.

Delilah: Delilah is a bright pink with a green to gold shift and some purple/pink shimmer throughout.

Disguise: Disguise is a bright blue shadow with a purple/pink shift.

Evacuate: Evacuate is an orange with a pink undertone and orange and gold shimmer throughout.

In Memory: In Memory is a gorgeous mint green with a golden shift.

Let's talk about the palettes in the collection. The actual palettes are made of cardboard, but are quite sturdy. They are extremely lightweight and have a good sized mirror on the inside lid. The downfall that I experienced with the palettes are that the shadows are so incredibly soft that they seem to have a tough time staying pressed. When I got my palettes in the mail, two of them were broken already and the more I move the palettes around, the more they crack apart. I think that with a change in pressing formulation, GDE pigments can be pressed and stay together, but with this batch, I unfortunately was not impressed. I would much rather have the pots with the loose pigments in them as they are much easier to work with and make less of a mess. I really do think that the palettes are a great idea, just some re-forumlation is needed.

The Blush:

Left: Start A Rumor; Right: NARS Orgasm
Start A Rumor is a beautiful pinky-peach blush with a strong golden shimmer/shift throughout. I absolutely love this blush and I think that it is so flattering. I wanted to compare it to NARS Orgasm, since it is quite similar but at a MUCH cheaper price point. I find that Start A Rumor is far more pigmented than Orgasm. Orgasm is a bit difficult to work with and it's quite a densely packed formula. I find it hard to get an even color payoff with Orgasm. Start A Rumor leans slightly more pink than Orgasm and Orgasm appears more glittery in my opinion. Start A Rumor is very finely milled and extremely soft. This blush is also VERY pigmented so I recommend using a duo-fiber brush to apply it.

I also figured I would show the gift with purchase that GDE included for the month of March

Longing For Spring is a beautiful light green that has a slight golden sheen to it.

Overall, I really like the shadows that Vee chose for this collection. My favorites are Pipe Dream, Surrogate, and In Memory. I really do love Start A Rumor as well. I think this blush is fantastic and I hope Vee decides to keep this blush as a permanent product! As I stated before, I am not a huge fan of the palette form of the shadows but I would obviously recommend the pots! Don't forget, this collection is only available until June 20th so make sure you get these bad boys while you can!

The shadows can be purchased individually for $6 and the blushes for $9.

Have you tried anything from this collection? What products are your favorites?!
